    The “evaluation” element of this course covers widely-utilised evaluation models such as Kirkpatrick’s Model of Evaluation. You’ll gain the ability to apply these models and provide constructive feedback to your trainees. You’ll also learn how to reflect upon your own performance and use what you learn to improve and grow as a trainer.
  • Be prepared to complete your assessment work and achieve your QQI Certification


    Further self-directed learning and assessment work is required to achieve your QQI Certification in Training Delivery and Evaluation.

    During the course, your trainer will provide you with a detailed assessment brief, and guidance on how to approach your assessment work.

Why is this QQI Training Delivery & Evaluation certification often called “Train the Trainer”?


The old FETAC Train The Trainer Level 6 award was de-activated by QQI and is no longer available.

QQI Training Delivery and Evaluation Level 6 course is the closest replacement in style and content to the old Train The Trainer course.

QQI Training Delivery and Evaluation is one of the most popular courses we run, both for public and in-house bookings. It is a must for anyone who wants to deliver effective training, in any environment.

Is my Train The Trainer Award still valid?


If you have already achieved the old FETAC Train The Trainer award (code: E30179), your certification is still valid and will continue to be recognised by QQI under the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

If you hold a FETAC Train the Trainer award, you may wish to expand you skills with the QQI Training Needs Identification and Design course and certification.

Training Needs Identification and Design focuses on identifying exactly what is required for a training module or programme, and designing content that best-aligns with these requirements.

QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development


If you successfully complete both Training Delivery and Evaluation and Training Needs Identification and Design, along with their assessments, you will automatically gain the QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development.

Frequently Asked Questions

When FETAC transitioned to become QQI, the old, very popular course, Train The Trainer was deactivated. To delve more deeply into a full range of training skills, QQI replaced Train The Trainer with Training Delivery and Evaluation and Training Needs Identification and Design.

Train the Trainer was a FETAC course, which was deactivated by QQI at the end of 2014. It was replaced by 2 more in-depth courses: Training Delivery and Evaluation and Training Needs Identification and Design.

Many people still call Training Delivery and Evaluation “Train the Trainer” as it is very similar to the old FETAC course in both content and approach.

No previous training experience is needed for this course. Training Delivery and Evaluation works both as a foundation course for beginners and a refresher for experienced trainers.

You do need to be able to use, and to have access to a computer. You will need to this for your skills demonstration and assessment work.

This is a very practical and enjoyable course. We cover a lot of material over the 4 days of training. It’s the most effective way to really get to grips with building new training skills.

Your assessment work begins on Day 4 of training, when you will deliver a short skills demonstration in the form of a mini training session.

For this reason, we recommend that participants keep their evenings as free as possible to revise materials and work on their skills demonstration.

This certification is placed at Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), and its QQI award code is 6N3326.

When you complete this course and its assessment work successfully, you will gain a minor award certificate in Training Delivery and Evaluation, worth 15 credits.

These credits can be used towards a Special Purpose Award in Training and Development (code: 6S3372).

The QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development identifies that you have covered and been successfully certified in all elements of the Training Cycle (Training Needs Analysis, Design Skills, Delivery Skills, Evaluation Methods).

The award code is 6S3372. This award is made up of 2 components:

By completing and passing both of these components and their assessments, you will gain the QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development.

No. You only need to complete both components if you would like to achieve the Special Purpose Award in Training and Development. Both components can be taken as stand-alone courses and certifications.

Yes, completing this Special Purpose Award will demonstrate to potential employers and clients that you have achieved competency and skill in all 4 important stages of the Training Cycle.

For Training Delivery and Evaluation, your certification process looks like this:

  • Attend Training: Attend our 4-day Training Delivery and Evaluation Course.
  • Skills Demonstration: You will deliver a short training session to kick off your assessment work on the last day of training.
  • Study and written assessment work: In the 8 weeks following training, you will complete self-directed learning and your written assessment work.
